Seven Things We Love About Arcade Fire

Arcade Fire never fit the mold of the traditional rock group, and that’s why we’ve been listening since they hit it big with 2004’s Funeral. Five albums in, the sound is still fresh, largely because of their willingness to experiment and collaborate with outside talent. Here are a few of the reasons why we can’t wait to see them close out the Life is Beautiful festival Sunday night.

The Lyrics to “Put Your Money on Me”

“All my presents are broken, before they’re open and the promises, the second they’re spoken.” So good.

They’re Canadian

Just like so many of our favorites, from Drake and The Weeknd to Neil Young and Alanis Morissette.

The Band’s 2018 Record Store Day Release

The band’s self-titled debut EP recently returned to life in the form of a beautiful blue vinyl for Record Store Day. We don’t even want to play it, we just want to look at it.

They Got Spike Jonze to Direct the “The Suburbs” Music Video

Yes, the Spike Jonze of Being John Malkovich fame and the guy who directed almost every cool music video ever.

The Band’s “Ultimate Playlist” Includes “Ghostbusters”

You’re damn right it does.

They Know the Power of the Mashup

Seeing Arcade Fire with Chrissie Hynde performing The Pretenders’ “Don’t Get Me Wrong” is freakin’ mind-blowing and watching Arcade Fire and Florence Welch on the same stage gives us hope for some kind of magic mashup at Life is Beautiful. We’ll keep our fingers crossed.

Every Vegas Show is a Treat

Here’s the thing about Arcade Fire: They’re almost never in Las Vegas. Sure, they swung through Mandalay Bay last fall while on tour, but before that it had been six years in between Vegas shows. From the stage, singer Win Butler offered us some comforting words, and told us not to be afraid to celebrate life and music and everything beautiful. We can’t wait to celebrate with the band again. Savor every second at Life is Beautiful.
